Since our founding over a century ago, the Palisades Interstate Park Commission has depended on donations as well as public funds for financial support to meet our mission to promote and expand the preservation of natural, historical and cultural resources. These donations enable us to conserve and protect open space and wildlife habitats, improve facilities and enhance programs and services for our visitors. Today, the need is greater than ever.

Ensure an Enduring Legacy
Gift and Legacy Planning
Planned giving programs include: cash, securities, charitable bequests, retirement accounts and the transfer of personal property. You may find that including the Palisades Parks Conservancy in your will allows you to make a more significant contribution than is possible during your lifetime.
Creating a simple monetary bequest may be as easy as adding this statement to one's will:
I give and bequest the sum of _________________ dollars to the PalisadesParks Conservancy, located in Rockland County, NY.
Bequests are also useful planning tools to guard against the unexpected and to ensure that an asset passes to a beneficiary of choice.
Create A Life Income Plan:
A life income arrangement may be the ideal way for you to make a substantial gift during your lifetime and still protect your own personal and financial needs. The annuity concept is quite simple: the investor makes an irrevocable contribution of cash and/or securities and in return the investor is paid an income for life. After death, the remaining principal will pass to the Palisades Parks Conservancy to be used as instructed by the investor.
Retirement Plan Assets:
Retirement plan assets may be donated to a charity, either during one’s lifetime, or upon one’s death.
Property:
Donating appreciated stock to charity may result in significant tax advantages.
Life Insurance:
Similar to a savings bond, a gift of life insurance policy enables one to give something that is eventually more valuable than one’s out-of-pocket cost.
Trusts:
Charitable trusts can be structured to suit varied needs and goals – they can generate fixed or variable income for the donor or others for a period of years or a lifetime, and at their termination, the principal of the trust passes to a designated charity. Charitable trusts can generate fixed or variable income to a designated charity for a period of years or a lifetime, and at the end of the term, revert to the donor or his or her heirs. Such trusts also can be funded with cash, securities, real estate, life insurance, etc.

Adopt a Zoo Animal or Trailside Museum
The purpose of this program is to raise money for projects that are either not funded or not fully funded by New York State.
The program gives people the opportunity to contribute by “adopting” a Trailside Zoo animal or sponsoring a Museum. You can choose from a wide variety of animals, from Samantha the bald eagle to Fred, the porcupine. Our museums tell the stories of local history, geology, natural science and reptiles and amphibians.
All monies donated will be used for the benefit of the Zoo or Museum exhibits.
Adopt an animal or a museum and receive the following free gifts!
· An adoption certificate
· A photo of your adopted animal or building with specific information about the individual animal or building on the back.
· A fact sheet with more interesting information about your animal species or the history or Trailside.

Memorial Bench Program
GUIDELINES FOR THE DONATION OF MEMORIAL BENCHES TO BE PLACED WITHIN PIPC ENVIRONS
The Palisades Interstate Park Commission is pleased to offer to the public the opportunity to participate in its newly established memorial bench program. The first benches offered are original rustic designs, handcrafted from local materials, and are an excellent way to honor a friend or family member while also supporting their favorite Palisades Park. Tax deductible donations begin at $2,500 per bench and include the bench, a 4 x6 brass plaque, and permanent installation.
While there are several styles available to choose from, the style of bench will be at the discretion of the Park. Historic Sites may have a different style than park settings, and individual parks may also have their own style guidelines.
Upon receipt of the donation, the Park will order the bench, the plaque, and schedule installation. This process may take 4-6 weeks.
The permanent brass plaque contains the name of the person being remembered preceded by "In Honor of…" or "In Loving Memory of…" and, if requested, a significant date.
While it will make every effort to accommodate final placement requests, PIPC may not be able to accommodate a donor's first or second placement choice due to certain restrictions and facility needs. While it does guarantee placement of the bench within the requested park, final placement of benches is at the discretion of PIPC and the Park facility manager.
Should a request for a location be unavailable due to park or other restrictions, other memorial donations may be applicable, e.g. trees, birdhouses, or other landscape features.
